| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national emblem of Singapore is depicted centrally, featuring a lion head and crescent moon above five stars within a shield, flanked by a lion and a tiger as supporters. The date 2016 appears beneath the emblem in the lower field. The word 'SINGAPORE' and its equivalents in the four official languages — Malay (SINGAPURA), Tamil (சிங்கப்பூர்), and Chinese (新加坡) — are arranged as a circular legend around the periphery of the coin. |

Singapore's orchid coinage program draws from the country's status as a major commercial orchid exporter, an industry built largely on hybrids developed at the Singapore Botanic Gardens from the 1950s onward. Cymbidium finlaysonianum is one of the few Cymbidium species native to Southeast Asia — most of the genus originates in the Himalayas and southern China — making it an ecologically pointed choice for this series.
