Cornwall's 1967 dollar was issued by the local Jaycees chapter as part of Canada's centennial celebration, one of dozens of municipal trade dollars struck that year as towns across the country commissioned their own commemorative pieces. The sheer volume of these issues — produced by private minters for civic organizations — created an entire collecting sub-field that Canadian numismatists now catalog under the "trade dollar" classification, with Charlton and Haxby references like THO#125 distinguishing them by municipality and variety.
