| Reverse description | The central field features a finely detailed portrait of a Coral Hind (Cephalopholis miniata) grouper fish, rendered in high relief with careful attention to its spotted body and pectoral fin, facing left. To the right of the fish, a section of coral reef is depicted with intricate textural detail, occupying approximately half the field. A dotted inner border encircles the design. The legend MARINE LIFE PROTECTION arcs along the upper periphery, while the scientific name CEPHALOPHOLIS MINIATA curves along the lower left in smaller lettering. |

| Additional information |
Palau's micro-gold program, of which this is a part, was developed specifically for the collector market rather than any circulation purpose — the republic has used the US dollar since 1994 and has no practical need for domestic gold coinage. KM#749 is one of dozens of fractional gold issues Palau has released through European distribution networks, particularly through mints and distributors in Austria and Germany targeting the novelty bullion collector segment.
