| Obverse description | The obverse displays the central coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia set within a beaded border. The shield depicts a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, with a flying dove above and a scroll bearing the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' arching across the top of the arms. The date '1996' appears divided at either side of the shield in the field, and the denomination '1 DOLLAR' is inscribed along the lower legend. The circular legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' runs along the upper periphery within the beaded rim. |
