Beschrijving keerzijde A highly detailed depiction of a Chinese dragon in the traditional East Asian style, rendered in bold high relief with selective gold gilding applied against a black rhodium-treated field. The dragon is shown in dynamic, serpentine motion with its fearsome open-jawed head facing left, long whiskers extending forward, and its scaled body coiling across the full diameter of the coin with taloned claws visible. Stylised auspicious clouds rendered in the dark field provide atmospheric depth behind the gilded figure. In the lower centre of the design, a circular gilded medallion bears the Chinese character '龍' (lóng, meaning 'dragon'), serving as the sole inscription on the reverse.

Aanvullende informatie

Niue has operated as a prolific bullion and commemorative licensing platform since the 1990s, contracting mint production — in this case almost certainly the Perth Mint — to issue coins under its legal tender framework while retaining none of the manufacturing process on the island itself. The arrangement is purely commercial; Niue's population of roughly 1,600 has no practical relationship with the coins struck in its name.

The 2024 Year of the Dragon completes the current 12-year Lunar cycle run under this issuer. Dragon years reliably produce the highest mintage figures and strongest secondary market premiums within any lunar series.
