| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a fully colored, cartoonish chibi-style depiction of a dragon rendered in vivid orange, gold, red, pink, and white tones. The creature is shown frontally in a seated posture, with a broad smiling face, large white eyes with black pupils, rosy cheeks, red brow markings, gold antler-like horns, and golden-yellow mane framing the face. Its rounded body displays a red diamond-shaped cartouche at the chest bearing the Chinese character '龙' (dragon) in gold. The overall design is whimsical and celebratory in character, commemorating the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Dragon. |

Niue has functioned as a prolific issuer of licensed commemorative coinage since the 1990s, its monetary agreement with New Zealand allowing it to produce legal tender pieces that circulate nowhere and are manufactured entirely for the collector market. The Year of the Dragon release fits squarely into that commercial framework — one of dozens of lunar-themed issues Niue produces annually under licensing arrangements with international mints and distributors.
KM#6801 is among the first Niuean issues to bear the effigy of Charles III following his accession in September 2022.
