| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a detailed portrait of the Polish Nobel Prize-winning poet Wisława Szymborska facing slightly left, rendered in high relief against a divided field with contrasting matte and mirror-polished sections. Her name WISŁAWA SZYMBORSKA appears prominently above in a collage-style typographic arrangement composed of letters of varying fonts and sizes, a motif inspired by her well-known artistic hobby of creating collages. A small figure of a cat in silhouette appears at the apex above the name. Fragments of handwritten verse in Polish script are inscribed in the lower left and right fields, evoking her literary legacy. |

Wisława Szymborska won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996, though the Swedish Academy's citation — praising her "poetry that with ironic precision allows the historical and biological context to come to light in fragments of human reality" — did little to predict that she would eventually appear on a Pacific island's commemorative coinage. Niue has become a favored issuing vehicle for Polish cultural subjects precisely because its sovereign status allows it to produce legal tender without the bureaucratic constraints of the NBP.
Szymborska died in Kraków in February 2012.
