| Obverse description | Effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief with a naturalistic portrait style. The king is depicted bare-headed, wearing a suit jacket, with fine detail given to facial features and hair. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left rim, while D·G·REX arcs along the right rim, all within a beaded border encircling the hendecagonal flan. The engraver's initials SR appear discreetly below the truncation of the portrait. |

The "O Canada" series from the Royal Canadian Mint targets the collector market directly, issued as a circulation-quality dollar with a modified reverse design rather than the standard common loon. Charles III appears on the obverse following his accession in September 2022, making 2025 issues only the third or fourth year of his effigy on Canadian coinage — the portrait itself, by Steven Rosati, was adopted across Commonwealth mints after his coronation in May 2023.
