Reverse description The reverse presents a vivid underwater prehistoric scene dominated by a large, full-color polychrome Ichthyosaurus rendered in shades of green, orange, and yellow, depicted in profile swimming left with its elongated toothed jaws open. Below the colorized specimen, two additional Ichthyosaurus individuals are shown in uncolored fine relief, swimming amid an ancient seabed landscape with coral, cephalopods, and small fish visible in the background field. The legend ICHTHYOSAURUS arches along the upper border in bold raised lettering. The overall composition conveys a dynamic, scientifically informed depiction of the Jurassic marine environment.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a prolific vehicle for third-party bullion and collector programs since the 1990s, with the New Zealand Overseas Territory lending its sovereign authority to hundreds of themed issues it has no organic connection to. This ichthyosaur piece falls squarely into that commercial pipeline — a product designed and marketed almost certainly by a European or Australian distributor, with Niue providing the legal tender status in exchange for licensing revenue.

KM#7095 is among the earliest Niue issues to bear Charles III's effigy following the accession coinage transition after September 2022.
