Freydís Eiríksdóttir appears in both the Grænlendinga saga and Eiríks saga rauða, though the two accounts contradict each other sharply — one portrays her as courageous under attack from Skrælings in Vinland, the other as a murderer who ordered the killing of her own expedition members. Niue has built a substantial collector program around Norse exploration figures, issuing through the New Zealand mint under its currency agreement with Wellington.
