The winged female figure is depicted in a dynamic striding pose, her robes flowing dramatically behind her; her right arm is raised aloft holding a laurel wreath, while her left hand extends outward grasping a broken chain. Large, elaborately feathered wings spread wide to either side, filling the shaped planchet. The entire composition is rendered in deep sculptural relief with an antiqued finish that accentuates the fine surface detail of the drapery, musculature, and feathering. No inscriptions appear on the reverse. |

Niue has operated as a prolific bullion and commemorative licensing hub since the 1990s, leasing its sovereign issuing authority to external minting programs — primarily European producers — while remaining a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand. The arrangement is entirely legal under international numismatic convention, though it means most "Niue" coins have no meaningful circulation history on the island itself, whose population hovers around 1,500.
