| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a richly detailed high-relief composition inspired by Georges Méliès' 1902 silent film 'Le Voyage dans la Lune'. The central motif is the iconic anthropomorphic face of the Moon in selective gold gilding, its cratered surface rendered with meticulous texture, with a cylindrical space capsule embedded in the left eye as depicted in the original film. The lunar surface in the lower field is populated by an array of finely engraved mushrooms of varying species — including cap mushrooms and morel-type fungi — rising from a rocky, pebbled exergual ground. Two eight-pointed stars flank the moon in the left and right fields. The curved legend A TRIP TO THE MOON arcs along the upper border in stylised lettering against the antiqued silver field. |
