Additional information

Perth Mint has issued lunar series coins continuously since 1996, making this one of the longest-running thematic programs in modern Australian coinage. The Horse falls in the third iteration of that cycle — the Mint's so-called Lunar Series III — which began in 2020 and introduced Charles III portraiture following the Queen's death in September 2022. High-relief strikes in this program use a dedicated die preparation process that requires significantly more press tonnage and yields far lower per-die output than standard proof strikes.
