Dandelong Ranges aside, Australia's strawberry industry is concentrated heavily in Queensland, which produces roughly 70% of the national crop. The Big Strawberry — located in Koonoomoo, on the New South Wales side of the Murray Valley — is one of the older installations in the "Big Things" roadside attraction network that proliferated across Australia from the 1970s onward, a tourism infrastructure built around agricultural identity rather than heritage architecture.
This is part of the RAM's ongoing coloured dollar program celebrating the Big Things series. The aluminium bronze core takes colour printing unevenly relative to silver-toned alloys — a known production consideration for this format.
