Additional information

New Zealand's "Te Kiwi Nui" program draws on Māori nomenclature — the name translates roughly as "the great kiwi" — and represents one of the Reserve Bank's recurring collector series built around the North Island brown kiwi, a species listed as vulnerable under New Zealand's conservation threat classification system. Charles III's first portrait on New Zealand coinage, sculpted by Martin Jennings, replaced the long-running Maklouf effigy used since 1985.
