| 正面描述 | Right-facing uncrowned effigy of King Charles III, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field with a contrasting frosted portrait. The legend CHARLES III · 2025 · NEW ZEALAND arcs along the upper periphery, while the purity and weight specification .999 Ag 1oz appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The effigy, designed by Dominic Dwyer, depicts the King in contemporary attire without regalia, consistent with the first coinage portrait of his reign. |

New Zealand's hammerhead shark coinage sits within a broader Pacific wildlife series that the RBNZ has used since the early 2000s to court the international collector market — proof silver dollars of this type are rarely intended for domestic circulation and are produced in strictly limited mintages sold direct through the bank's numismatic program. The mangōpare, or great hammerhead, carries specific cultural weight in Māori tradition as a symbol of strength and tenacity, and its Māori name was deliberately chosen over the English for this issue.
Charles III's first portrait by Martin Jennings replaced the Jody Clark effigy across Commonwealth coinage beginning in 2023.
