The mangōpare, or great hammerhead, carries specific cultural weight in Māori tradition as a symbol of strength and tenacity, and its Māori name was deliberately chosen over the English for this issue.
Charles III's first portrait by Martin Jennings replaced the Jody Clark effigy across Commonwealth coinage beginning in 2023.
