Additional information

Australia's hourglass dolphin (Lagenorhynchus cruciger) is among the least-studied cetaceans on earth — it inhabits the remote Southern Ocean and has never been held in captivity, making photographic documentation genuinely rare. Perth Mint's choice to feature it continues a wildlife bullion tradition stretching back decades, though subjects this obscure are relatively uncommon in the series.

Charles III's first portrait on Australian coinage, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted following the king's accession in September 2022.
