| Reverse description | The reverse features a vibrant coloured depiction of the Blue Dragon, one of the Four Guardians of Chinese mythology, set as the central motif. Surrounding it are the remaining three celestial guardians: the Red Vermilion Bird, the White Tiger, and the Black Tortoise entwined with a Green Snake, all rendered in vivid applied colour against the polished silver field. The design draws from classical East Asian iconographic tradition, with each guardian positioned to evoke the four cardinal directions. The Perth Mint's mintmark P and the edition designation 125 appear in the field, alongside the designer's initials WR. The date 2024 is inscribed at the lower portion of the reverse. |

The "Four Guardians" series draws on the Chinese cosmological system of directional spirit animals, a deliberate commercial pivot by the Royal Australian Mint toward collector markets in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the broader diaspora. The Blue Dragon governs the east and spring — its pairing with a Charles III effigy on an Australian dollar reflects exactly the kind of cross-cultural numismatic product that has dominated RAM releases since the mid-2010s.
Charles III's first portrait, sculpted by Dominic Davies, appeared on Australian coinage following the Queen's death in September 2022 and was phased into new issues through 2023 and into 2024.
