Part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing collectible dollar program, the "Candy Castle" release targets the gift and novelty market that has kept the RAM's coloured and themed dollar series commercially viable for years. These pieces are struck to collector standard but spend their lives in packaging rather than pockets — a deliberate production choice that keeps mintage figures modest and secondary market premiums predictable. Charles III's first portrait on Australian coinage, sculpted by King's official effigy sculptor Sacha Jafri, was approved following the accession in September 2022.
