Obverse description The obverse features the first official effigy of King Charles III for Australian coinage, rendered in high relief, depicting an uncrowned, draped bust of the monarch facing left. The portrait, designed by Dominic Morley, shows the King in a naturalistic style with fine detailing of facial features and attire. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the upper left field, with AUSTRALIA continuing along the upper right, all in incuse lettering against the mirror-polished field. The denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower arc, flanked by two raised dots. The engraver's initials DT appear to the right of the truncation.
