Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III after the first portrait by Daniel Thorne, depicting the King in civilian dress with a collar and lapel visible at the truncation. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the upper left periphery and AUSTRALIA along the upper right, with the denomination 1 DOLLAR inscribed along the lower arc, flanked by two raised dot separators at the nine and three o'clock positions. The engraver's initials DT appear incuse in the lower right field near the bust truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a flat, unburnished field.
