| Obverse description | The Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing five pineapples arranged in cross pattern, surmounted by a crocodile atop a royal helmet and mantling. Two Taino figures serve as supporters on either side of the shield, the dexter figure holding a basket of fruit and the sinister figure holding a spear. Below the shield, a scroll bears the national motto in the legend OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The country name JAMAICA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ONE DOLLAR and the date 1984 are inscribed along the lower field, with the Franklin Mint mark FM appearing at the base. |
