Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the national coat of arms of Palau at centre, depicting a traditional shield enclosing a figure of a native fisherman alongside a mermaid, a sea turtle, and a trident, all rendered in high relief. A small frigate bird in a traditional canoe appears above the shield in the upper field. Eight five-pointed stars are evenly distributed around the shield. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, while the inscription RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield. Aanvullende informatie

Palau's micro-gold issues of the mid-2000s were produced primarily for the collector and novelty market, exploiting the country's status as a sovereign issuer under the Compact of Free Association with the United States. The Buffalo Weaver — an African bird with no geographic connection to Palau — reflects the series' opportunistic approach to subject matter, licensing imagery with broad international appeal rather than anything tied to Palauan natural history.

At 0.5 grams, these were among the smallest legal-tender gold coins produced by any sovereign mint at the time of issue.
