背面描述 The design reproduces the celebrated ancient Roman denarius struck by Marcus Junius Brutus in 42 BC, commonly known as the EID MAR denarius. The central motif features a pileus (liberty cap) flanked by two daggers, symbolising the liberation of Rome following the assassination of Julius Caesar on the Ides of March, 44 BC. The legend EID*MAR is inscribed across the field, referencing the Latin Eidibus Martiis (the Ides of March), accompanied by the Roman numeral date MMIX denoting the year of issue 2009.

附加信息

Palau's micro-gold dollar series, issued through the late 2000s, was produced primarily for the collector market via international distributors rather than through any domestic monetary infrastructure — Palau itself uses the US dollar in daily commerce. The "Brutus" designation here refers to Marcus Junius Brutus, the Roman senator central to the conspiracy of 44 BC.

Brutus had coins struck in his own name during the civil war following Caesar's assassination, most famously the EID MAR denarius commemorating the Ides of March — one of the most politically explicit coin issues in ancient history.
