| Obverse description | Right-facing bust effigy of Benjamin Harrison, 23rd President of the United States, rendered in high relief with fine detail to his characteristic full beard and hair. The legend BENJAMIN HARRISON curves along the upper rim, while the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST, 23rd PRESIDENT, and the presidential term dates 1889-1893 appear in the lower field and along the lower rim. The portrait, engraved by Phebe Hemphill, is executed in a realistic style consistent with the Presidential Dollar series. |
