Obverse description Right-facing bust effigy of Benjamin Harrison, 23rd President of the United States, rendered in high relief with fine detail to his characteristic full beard and hair. The legend BENJAMIN HARRISON curves along the upper rim, while the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST, 23rd PRESIDENT, and the presidential term dates 1889-1893 appear in the lower field and along the lower rim. The portrait, engraved by Phebe Hemphill, is executed in a realistic style consistent with the Presidential Dollar series.

Reverse description Full figure of the Statue of Liberty facing slightly left, depicted from the waist up, her right arm raised aloft holding a torch and her left arm bearing a tablet. The radiate crown with seven spikes is rendered in fine detail. The denomination $1 appears to the left of the figure in the field, and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the upper and left rims. The design was engraved by Don Everhart and is common to the Presidential Dollar series.
