Obverse description Green note with the bank vignette at left and the denomination in words across the centre. Serial numbers printed in large blue serif typeface appear at upper left and upper right. The denomination numeral "1 DOLLAR" is indicated at right. The issue date is partially pre-printed "188_" with the final digit completed by hand, and the note bears three manuscript signatures at the bottom.

Reverse description Plain yellow-green tinted note with a large ornate "$1" denomination numeral in green intaglio print positioned slightly right of centre, rendered in an elaborate Victorian serif script with decorative flourishes. A faint guilloche underprint is visible at the left margin. The remainder of the reverse is unadorned.
