Part of Singapore's long-running Orchid series, this issue features the Arundina graminifolia — commonly called the bamboo orchid — one of the few orchid species naturally occurring in Singapore rather than introduced through cultivation. The series has been struck continuously since the 1990s and represents one of the more coherent thematic programs in Southeast Asian numismatics, with individual flower types rotated across annual releases.
KM#424 is a bullion-adjacent collector piece rather than a circulation strike; Singapore ceased producing dollar coins for general use well before this date.
