Florida's entry in the American Innovation dollar series honors the development of GPS technology, specifically the contributions of Dr. Gladys West, whose precise mathematical modeling of Earth's shape while working at the Naval Weapons Laboratory in Dahlgren, Virginia proved foundational to the satellite navigation systems now embedded in virtually every modern device.
