正面描述	The obverse carries the bold title 'THE BANK OF BRITISH NORTH AMERICA / INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER' across the upper centre, with 'FIVE SHILLINGS' at top left and 'BRANTFORD' at top right. Oval portrait vignettes of a woman (left) and a man in period dress (right) flank a central allegorical vignette of two figures with a coat of arms, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The promise text reads 'This Bank will pay the Bearer on demand ONE DOLLAR at BRANTFORD 1st Dec. 1852', with serial number repeated at lower left and lower right.
