正面描述 The obverse is printed in black on white paper and carries four corner counters each reading '1 25/100' in typeset numerals. A central vignette in the upper left portion of the note presents an engraved maritime scene with sailing vessels at sea, rendered in fine intaglio line work. The bank title 'WEYBOSSET BANK' appears in bold letterpress across the centre, above a cursive promise-to-pay line and the boxed inscription 'PROVIDENCE', with 'RHODE ISLAND' along the lower border; two manuscript signature lines for Cashier and President are present at the foot of the note.

备注

Weybosset Bank was chartered in Providence in 1833 and named after the Weybosset Neck neighborhood — the older, commercial side of the Providence River. By 1853 Rhode Island still operated under a notoriously permissive free-banking environment, and the state's sheer density of small chartered banks meant notes like this circulated alongside dozens of competing issues, all trading at varying discounts depending on the issuing bank's perceived solvency that week.

The fractional 25-cent denomination combined with a dollar value on a single sheet reflects a common New England practice of issuing "combination notes" to alleviate small-change shortages — coin perpetually drained westward during this period.
