Reverse description Printed entirely in purple, the reverse is dominated by a central oval vignette containing the Chinese characters 壹圓 above the English denomination ONE DOLLAR, framed by elaborate acanthus-leaf scrollwork. Flanking the central vignette are two large symmetrical guilloche rosette panels radiating outward from dark centres, with the dollar sign and numeral $1 repeated in each corner. The issuer's name appears in a straight legend across the top, and the printer's imprint runs along the lower margin.
