附加信息	The Bahamas achieved independence from Britain on July 10, 1973, making this 1983 issue a tenth-anniversary commemoration. Independence came relatively quietly — no armed conflict, no protracted constitutional crisis — following a landslide 1972 general election victory for the Progressive Liberal Party under Lynden Pindling, who had campaigned explicitly on a sovereignty platform. The PLP's dominance going into independence meant the new government had an unusually stable political foundation from which to build national institutions. Pindling remained Prime Minister until 1992, and his image and administration are inseparable from Bahamian commemorative coinage of this period.
