| 背面描述 | A naturalistic standing figure of a Galapagos Penguin (Spheniscus mendiculus) occupies the center-left of the field, depicted in full profile facing right and perched on a rocky outcrop. The species name Pingüino de Galápagos curves along the upper-left legend in an arc following the coin's edge. The denomination numeral 1 and the legend DÓLAR appear to the right of the penguin in two lines, with a single five-pointed star positioned below the denomination in the lower-right field. |

The Galápagos Islands have no independent monetary authority — they are an Ecuadorian province and use the US dollar, which Ecuador adopted in 2000 after a catastrophic currency collapse. This piece was issued as a collector novelty rather than a circulating coin, produced under a licensing arrangement that allowed private mints to attach the Galápagos name to souvenir coinage. Genuine circulation on the islands never occurred.
