| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered copper flan of irregular round form bearing the Devanagari legend 'Shri Jam' (श्री जाम) in the field, attributing the issue to the Jadeja dynasty rulers of Nawanagar. The inscription is struck in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of princely-state copper coinage of the sixteenth century. The frozen regnal date AH 978 is associated with the reign of Jam Satalji under the suzerainty of Muzaffar Shah III of Gujarat. The surface shows characteristic die-struck relief with an irregularly shaped flan and plain edge consistent with hand-hammered production. |
