| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a three-line Arabic inscription in bold, archaic Kufic-influenced script, reading the name and title of the sultan. The legend fills the coin face to its margins, with the characters rendered in high relief characteristic of early Southeast Asian hammered gold coinage. A plain incuse circle encloses the inscription, separating it from the irregular, slightly ragged rim produced by the hand-striking technique. The compact, angular letterforms are tightly arranged, reflecting the limited flan size of this diminutive gold dirham. |
