| Obverse description | Central field contains a four-line Arabic Kufic inscription declaring the Shahada (profession of faith), arranged within a plain inner circle. The marginal legend, running along the outer ring, records the mint name (Damascus) and the date of issue (AH 521) in Arabic script. The flan is irregular and slightly porous, consistent with billon hammered coinage of the period. A suspension hole is visible at the left side of the coin, indicating post-mint use as a pendant or decorative attachment. |
