Obverse description Central field bearing the Islamic shahada in multiple horizontal lines of kufic Arabic script, reading 'La ilaha illa Allah / wahdahu la / sharika lahu' (There is no god but God, alone, without partner). The central inscription is surrounded by a double linear border enclosing a circular marginal legend in kufic script containing Quranic text (Quran 9:33).
