Obverse description Central field contains multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic inscription arranged within a double linear circle, the innermost field presenting the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in several registers. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs between two concentric borders, with a beaded or dotted outer rim. The die-struck legends are bold and characteristic of early 10th-century Abbasid-influenced provincial coinage. The overall layout follows the traditional dirham format established under the Abbasid caliphate, with no figurative imagery.
