| Obverse description | Central field displays multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged in concentric registers, containing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and the name of the Abbasid caliph. The legends are enclosed within a circular line border, beyond which a further marginal inscription in Arabic script runs around the full circumference of the coin. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, typical of Hamdanid-era hammered silver coinage, with areas of flat strike visible across the field. |
