Reverse description Central field bears multiple horizontal registers of bold Arabic Kufic script, naming the Hamdanid amir Sayf al-Dawla and the mint of Tarsus, with additional lines of religious and dynastic formulae. The inscriptions are contained within a single circular border, surrounded by a marginal legend in Arabic script encircling the entire coin. The flan exhibits the characteristic irregular, planchet shape of tenth-century hammered Islamic dirhams, with evidence of cracking and uneven metal distribution consistent with hand-striking techniques.
