Additional information

Samsam al-Dawla, son of the Buyid amir 'Adud al-Dawla, briefly controlled 'Uman (Oman) as part of the fragmented inheritance that followed his father's death in 983 — though Buyid authority over the region was always contested and administratively thin. Coinage struck in peripheral provinces like 'Uman during this period is rare precisely because local minting was opportunistic rather than systematic, tied to moments of actual administrative presence rather than continuous operation.
