| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bearing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) arranged in four horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script: 'There is no god but God, alone, He has no partner.' An additional inscription in the lower field records the mint name and date, reading 'In the name of God, this dirham was struck in Andaraba in the year two hundred and eighty-three.' The entire central legend is enclosed within a single-line inner circle, surrounded by a marginal legend in the outer field. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of hammered provincial Abbasid coinage. |
