Obverse description Bust of the ruler facing right at center, depicted in the Byzantine-influenced style with draped shoulders and a crown or diadem, set within a beaded inner border. Arabic inscriptions in Kufic or Naskh script appear in the field surrounding the effigy, containing the ruler's titles and name. The overall design reflects the Danishmendid practice of combining Turco-Islamic iconography with figural traditions inherited from earlier Anatolian coinage. The flan is irregular and struck on a broad, roughly circular copper planchet typical of hammered medieval Islamic dirhams.
