| Obverse description | Central field contains a multi-line Kufic Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle. The shahada (profession of faith) occupies the upper registers, reading 'There is no god but God alone, He has no partner; Muhammad is the messenger of God.' A marginal legend running around the circumference within a beaded outer border carries the Quranic verse (Quran 9:33) attesting to the mission of the Prophet. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of Marwanid hammered silver coinage, with moderate die wear visible across the field. |
