The Annazids were a minor Kurdish dynasty controlling territory around Hulwan and parts of the Zagros region, operating as nominal vassals under shifting Buyid and later Seljuk overlordship. Isfahdost b. Shirdhil's reign falls precisely in the decade when Buyid power was fragmenting catastrophically, which gave petty rulers like the Annazids unusual latitude to strike their own silver — an assertion of local authority that the collapsing Buyid center was in no position to contest.

Album's reference P1590 places this among provisional or poorly-documented types, reflecting how little systematic die study has been applied to Annazid coinage. Most surviving examples come from hoards rather than single finds.
