| 表面の銘文 | ابن ذي القرنين ابن عين الدولة |
| 裏面の説明 | A lion sejant facing left, carefully and skillfully engraved in high relief, occupying the central field. The mane is rendered with detailed individual tufts radiating around the head and neck, and a beaded collar is visible at the base of the neck. The tail curves upward prominently behind the haunches. The lion's musculature is modelled with considerable artistic refinement for a hammered copper issue, and a dotted inner border follows the edge of the irregular flan. |

The Danishmendid dynasty fragmented after the death of Yaghi-Basan in 1164, splitting into rival branches at Sivas, Malatya, and Niksar. Fakhr al-Din Qasim ruled the Malatya branch during a period of acute pressure from the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, which was systematically absorbing Danishmendid territories. His coinage window of roughly two years reflects this instability — Kilij Arslan II had annexed most Danishmendid holdings by the early 1170s, and Malatya itself fell shortly after.
