Obverse description Nimbate facing bust of Christ, depicted in Byzantine iconographic tradition, with the nimbus (halo) encircling the head. The effigy is rendered in a frontal, hieratic style consistent with Byzantine Christian imagery adopted by the Danishmendid rulers. Greek legend appears in the field flanking the bust. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, typical of hammered copper coinage of the period.
