| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the Abbasid kalima inscription arranged in three horizontal lines within a rectangular frame, rendered in Kufic script. A circular inner legend band surrounds the central panel, itself enclosed by a plain outer border. The legends declare the Islamic profession of faith in the standard Abbasid dirham format. The flat, hammered flan displays typical surface irregularities consistent with hand-struck production of the early 9th century. |
