| Additional information |
Al-Mahjam was a minor mint town in the Tihama lowlands of Yemen, and its activity under the Rasulid dynasty was sporadic at best. Ahmad ibn Isma'il al-Nasir, who ruled the Rasulids from 1400 to 1424, struck coins from several such secondary mints as the dynasty's grip on its Yemeni territories became increasingly fragmented in the early fifteenth century. Album 1111 is a scarce type, and pieces attributable specifically to al-Mahjam carry a meaningful premium over the more common Aden and Ta'izz issues of the same reign.
