Reverse description Central field divided into four horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script, naming the Abbasid caliph as Imam and Commander of the Faithful, and acknowledging Al-Musta'in billah as ruler. A small ornamental medallion, appearing as a rosette or star device, is visible at the top of the central field above the uppermost line of text. The marginal legend running around the inner border contains the Quranic verse of the Mission (Quran 9:33), a standard feature of Andalusian taifa coinage. The reverse flan, like the obverse, is irregularly shaped with fissures and edge breaks consistent with hammered silver production. The lettering is boldly rendered in the angular Kufic style characteristic of early 5th-century AH taifa issues.
